Reggie stood in the doorway, staring at Akos. There was nothing about her that attracted him. He knew he couldn’t go through with what his wife was asking, and with a heavy sigh, he turned to Nancy. "Are you serious right now?"

"Do I look like I’m joking?" Nancy shot back, her face set in a frown.

He sighed again, his frustration palpable. "Can we talk privately?" Without waiting for a response, he walked back to the living room. Nancy glanced at Akos, offering a brief, reassuring look before following him.

Reggie stood akimbo, his eyes fixed on the ceiling as Nancy entered. When he finally looked at her, displeasure was written all over his face. "Did you even think about this? Do you know her personally? Has she been tested for STIs? Do you know her family history? Does she have any genetic diseases? Do you even know her health status? Anything at all? No, you just went ahead because you were desperate."

"She has two adorable, healthy children," Nancy countered, her tone defensive.

"Okay, great," Reggie said sarcastically. "Then let's do IVF."

"Reggie," Nancy said, exasperated. "IVF starts at GH₵63,000. That's just the starting price, and it could still be unsuccessful. After that, where will we find the money to pay for a surrogate to carry the pregnancy? I'm trying to cut corners and make sure we get the best deal."

"I'm sorry, I can't do this," he said firmly. "I don't even like her. Did you get her tested for STIs before bringing her here?"

Nancy scoffed. "Since when do you care about STIs? We had a one-night stand the first time we met!"

Reggie shook his head. "Nancy, I'm not doing this. I don't like her, and I don’t want any part of it."

He turned and walked away, leaving his wife standing there, angry and disappointed. But Nancy wasn’t one to give up so easily. As she stood there, a determined look crossed her face.

"Maybe she's not his spec," she muttered to herself, a sly smile creeping across her lips. "I’ll find one who is."
